Who am I?

“Who am I that the creator of the Universe saw it fit to have one of me in this world. After giving Him so many reasons to unlove me, He welcomes me in His arms with pure love. Who am I that the God of the Heavens calls me by name and carefully crafted a plan for my life. Made in His image, He calls me beautiful, His majestic Hands, fearfully and wonderfully molded me into being. I have His breath in my lungs and the rhythm of His Heartbeat flows through my veins.”

If someone could ask you: “who are you?” “Where do you stand with your life?” Most of us would most probably nub on our lips because, really, how do you even begin to define yourself.

The word of God says in 1 Peter 2:9 “But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s very own possession.”

It’s so funny how this question is so simple, yet it will take a whole lifetime to answer, because we are evolving beings. To intricately think about it, it is a question so scary yet fragile, fragile because in alof of ways even the tiniest choices you make will later define who you are. Or so we think.

If you could see yourself through the lenses of God, you would understand that you are worship in a breath. A walking prayer, a breath of fresh air. A dedication of God’s time and thoughts put perfectly together.  Taking a step back, you normally answer this question with: “My name is…,” see so simple yet so intricate- is because that means it’s in the presence tense, the present is happening but changing at all times. You must understand that above all you are evolving, evolving because God is continuously moulding you. As it says in Ephesians 2:10 that “You are God’s masterpiece”. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things that He planned for us long ago.

Taking it to the street when someone says, “you are beautiful”, you most probably react like all of us do, shy away and whisper a humble “thank you”. Do you know what He says about that, His word says you are wonderfully and fearfully made! Now think about it. I know, maybe you have a few things that you don’t like about yourself, but God is too big to make a mistake about your beautiful tiny eyes. You are beautiful bottom line. You are a force, a turbulent wind that people must take note of. You are talented, gifted and a walking wonder.

You may not have discovered your talent as of yet or all your God given gifts but just look at yourself - a light of the world, like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. You are blazing, a threat to a few and a blessing to many. Yes you! You are a work in progress, take pride in that because that is your superpower. Your past doesn’t define you, it was only a steppingstone to your bright future. You can no longer take the past receipt because the devil is taunting you, you are free from condemnation as the word of God in

Romans 8:1 states.

Lastly and most importantly, you are a child of God. His pride, He sings over you and brags about you, even the stars are jealous. It says in Ephesians 1:5 “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ.

Keep shinning, because you are doing a great job at what God has called you to be.

So the next time you have a little bit of an identity crisis here are a few verses to remind you of who you are in Christ

I AM:

1. A child of God:(Ephesians 1: 38)

2. God’s handiwork: (Ephesians 2:10).

3. A minister of God:(2 Corinthians 5: 18)

4. Free from condemnation: (Romans 8:1)

5: The light of the world: (Matthew 5: 14)
