What do you want to be when you grow up?

Becoming. A lot comes to your mind when you hear that or get a question about what you want to become. Thoughts like the goals that you want to achieve, finishing college/university so you can become a lawyer, a doctor or whatever profession you want to become and yes that's life, you want to become something but is that it? In retrospect, you choose how much of your life you want it to be. Becoming is not about where you come from or where you're going, it's not about reaching certain goals. Becoming is more of a way forward, a progression, a method of developing gradually, a way to reach continuously toward a better version of yourself. It is life, it is an endless journey.

"Life is a journey to be experienced and not a problem to be solved..."

If we had to sum up phrases like "self discovery, finding yourself, knowing yourself" into the perfect two words it would be "your journey". There is no end to growing up to become something, this is where the pressure we feel comes from when we're often asked what we want to become when we grow up, because people specify "when you grow up" as if there's an end to it. It doesn't end there, when you finally become a doctor, you realize there's so much more to you, than what you had focused on. The question that matters is "what do you want to be remembered for?", think about it, and when the answer makes you happy you start there. You feel the pressure most of the time because, you feel like you're running out of time all because you're "growing up"? You are on a journey with no defined beginning, middle or end. There are no wrong twist and turns, there is just being. Just be yourself.

"If you don't become a captain of your own ship, you will be a passenger on someone else's" - Dr Mela

It is okay to lose your way along your journey, find it again. Find meaning to it. Be yourself. Strive to be the best version of yourself in everything that you do. Don't settle for the world as it is, work for what it should be. When you have done your best, learn that we still need

to rely on God, our best is incomplete without Him. Your purpose is to have a relationship with God, let Him help you navigate this ship called life for you.
